Now, I find it necessary to clarify that when I say “about the news” I don’t mean news stories…well, I do I guess, but not really…yeesh, this is hard to explain. This blog cares more about how the news does the news not so much about the news itself. A media watchdog if you will. Actually, until this takes off (if it ever does), its more of a news watchpuppy.

This blog grew out of another blog Remotely Interested, which focuses on television of all kinds, not just news. I wanted to cover news coverage, but decided that Remotely Interested wasn’t the place for it per se. So, ipso facto, here is Mediacrity!

If the name didn’t give it away, I have grown less and less fond of the news these days. Instead of participating in objective, fact-based  reporting, too many news organizations have turned to primitive shouting matches of personal ideological beliefs to generate revenue.

That’s not to say I don’t enjoy watching those programs. Trust me, I get as much joy and laughter at watching Geraldo Rivera get assaulted by a chair-wielding audience over and over again on YouTube as the next guy. But it becomes an issue when those programs parade around as news. Its not. It may hint at news, it may use news to make a point, but it is not itself news.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is that my goal is to find and comment on  stories from news organizations that try and pretend to be news.
